Unfair dismissal, redundancy and discrimination in one calculator. Your visitor gets an estimated range, the arithmetic behind it, and the rules for the date their job ended, including the Employment Rights Act 2025 changes that start on 1 January 2027.
Figures checked against legislation.gov.uk and the Presidential Guidance on 9 October 2026.
Answer a few questions about what happened. You’ll see an estimated range, worked out from the statutory limits and tribunal guidance, with each step shown.
Pick the closest. More than one can apply, and a solicitor will check.
Unfair dismissal law changes on 1 January 2027, so the date matters.
Your age when the job ended. Service in years; only complete years count towards the basic award.
That length of service doesn’t fit with that age. Check both figures.
Normal gross pay, before tax and National Insurance. A rough figure is fine.
Most of an unfair dismissal award is lost earnings, so this matters most.
Three quick questions.
Tribunals place injury-to-feelings awards in one of three bands, depending on how serious the treatment was and how long it went on.
From the day the job ended to today. If you’re still looking, the top of the range allows extra time to find work.
An indicative range from your answers, not a guarantee. The outcome depends on the evidence, and many claims settle before a hearing.
In a live calculator, this button opens the firm’s own claim form.
No obligation. Time limits are short. For most claims you must contact Acas within six months less one day of the job ending or the last act complained of (three months less one day if that was before 1 October 2026). Don’t leave it to the last week.
Acas early conciliation is free, and most claims have to go through it first. You can bring a tribunal claim yourself, and there is no fee to do so.
Paragraph 8.8 of the SRA Code of Conduct requires publicity to be accurate and not misleading. A calculator is publicity, so this one is built to hold up to that test.
Even statutory redundancy pay comes back as a range, because the visitor’s age, service and pay are rough. A single total invites “the website said I’d get £14,862”. A range with the working shown does not.
Each result lists the figures it used: the £751 week’s pay cap, the age bands for the basic award, the £123,543 compensatory cap or the Vento band, with the date each applies from.
Dismissals with an effective date of termination on or after 1 January 2027 get the six-month qualifying period and no compensatory cap (Employment Rights Act 2025, s.25). The result also gives the six-month time limit that applies from 1 October 2026.
You set the default ranges from your own results and approve the wording before launch. When the Increase of Limits Order and the Vento addendum change each April, we update the figures for you.
