Personal injury calculator

Injury ranges taken from the April 2026 guidelines

Built for the injury work that survived the whiplash reforms: accidents at work, slips and trips, and serious injury. Every figure comes from a named Judicial College bracket, and the visitor sees how the range was reached.

What could an injury claim like yours be valued at?

Five questions. You’ll get an indicative range from the guidelines judges use in England and Wales, with the working shown underneath.

01

How did it happen?

Different rules apply to some road accidents, so we ask first.

02

Where were you hurt?

Choose up to three, most serious first.

03

Which comes closest?

Think about how long recovery took, or how it affects you now.

Choose at least one injury above first.

04

Time off work

Count time off sick or on reduced pay because of the injury. If your employer paid you in full, choose None.

05

Who was to blame?

If you were partly at fault, compensation is reduced in proportion.

Your estimated range

An estimate, not a guarantee. The real figure depends on the medical evidence and your circumstances.

How we worked it out

Start your claim with Example & Co

No obligation. Court proceedings usually have to be issued within three years of the injury, or of when you first knew it was linked to the accident. For children, the three years starts at 18.

Always a range

The result is a low and a high figure, labelled as an estimate, with the working underneath. A visitor never sees a single number for their claim.

Brackets you can check

Each answer maps to a named bracket in the Judicial College Guidelines, 18th edition (9 April 2026), and the breakdown names it. When a new edition comes out we update the figures centrally and tell you what moved before it goes live.

Straight about road claims

Drivers and passengers with whiplash lasting up to two years are valued on the statutory tariff: £275 to £4,830 for accidents from 31 May 2025, or £300 to £4,975 with minor psychological symptoms. Where the injury itself is valued at £5,000 or less, the visitor is pointed to Official Injury Claim.

Your defaults, your claim form

The discount for further injuries, the expenses allowance and the shared-blame reduction are set from your own case results, and you sign off every figure and line of wording. “Start your claim” goes to the form you already use. We count clicks on it and store nothing the visitor types.
